Letter to myself in 10 years – #Blogtober14 Day 8

Dear Sam,

Look at you, you little fireball. You have accomplished so many things you put, then took off, then put pack on that bucket list of yours. Thank you, for not giving up, when you wanted to, because I know exactly about all of 435985 times you wanted to give up more than anything else. Go you, for getting the education you’ve always dreamed about and for being able to call yourself Dr. Sam Clemenza nowadays. It wasn’t always easy, and a lot of times the goal seemed unattainable, but you pulled it off. Despite of your education, I couldn’t be more proud of your career choices. You have decided to do something that fulfills you and you stepped away from all of those corporate positions. Kudos on collecting all of the experience needed for then becoming the artist that you’ve always been. It was scary but worth it, wasn’t it?

I’m proud of you for not settling for less and always staying true to yourself. I’m proud of you for realizing that some people are not meant to stay in your life, but they’re meant to show you a path or teach you a lesson or to inspire you. It’s good to know that you had the strength and the wisdom to realize that sometimes what you want most is not necessarily what you need. And look at all of that happiness that freeing yourself from toxic situations brought to your current life. Furthermore, I’m glad you realized that your happiness is not hinged on the relationship you’re in, the success or money you have, or the material things you have accumulated over the years. Those things bring only superficial satisfaction. But you know better now, don’t you? It’s YOU that your happiness depends on and I’m glad that you realized that and focused on the individual you wanted to become.

Future Sam, thank you for not letting people push you into their way of thinking and their expectations. I am not sure if you have children right now or not, but either way, I know that whatever your family situation might be these days, you’re a strong woman. And the decisions you’ve made along the way were supposed to make you happy and let you live your life, instead of living to anyone’s expectations. Remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, either if it’s being a kind mother or a driven career lady, you have it in you, as long as you don’t stop believing in yourself.

Although you are a strong individual on your own, I’m glad that you found love and that this love compliments how passionate you are about life and how you stop to smell the roses. I’m glad that your happiness is now multiplied by the love that has been brought to you. Enjoy it!

In conclusion, dear Sam, I hope that you still have tons of dreams. And that you will continue to create and set more dreams for yourself, because age is just a number and nothing should ever be set in stone. Stay adventurous, don’t lose that sparkle that people judge solely out of jealousy. Remember, that I will always be proud of your accomplishments and your failures, because they will shape you into a pretty kick ass human other humans enjoy to have around.

Take care,

Sam

P.S.: Also, most people will say that you’re harsh and will mistake your honesty for rudeness. Let them. If someone is not strong enough to handle your opinion, it means that they need fake people who sugarcoat things on the daily.

Also, Amen to this! “most people will say that youโ€™re harsh and will mistake your honesty for rudeness. Let them. If someone is not strong enough to handle your opinion, it means that they need fake people who sugarcoat things on the daily”

  2. Sam that was really great! I especially loved: “Iโ€™m proud of you for realizing that some people are not meant to stay in your life, but theyโ€™re meant to show you a path or teach you a lesson or to inspire you.” – Just because it’s so true and it took me personally some time to realize that myself. But at the end of the day, it’s just for our own good.
    Keep on writing. xo
