About Miss Freckle

IMG_7121Hi guys,

This is another attempt of documenting my life and the ups and downs of this freckled journey I am on. My name is Sam, I obviously don’t need to tell you what it’s short for.

The reason why now is the perfect time to start a blog about life, love, soul-searching, and all of the other violently beautiful things on this planet, is because I got laid off. Boo hoo. Yeah, getting laid off pretty much sucks. You get up in the morning, go to work, even stop by that organic bakery you always get your latte from in the mornings and two hours later, your CEO mumbles a sorry excuse for letting a third of the company go. So while the first couple of days you’re confused and don’t even know what to do next, about a week after getting laid off you adapt a pretty gnarly gipsy mentality. Here’s where I am at right now. Now don’t get me wrong, I know that I need a 9-5 job to cover bills and expenses, but at the same time I feel free. Free of all of the things that were weighing me down just about two weeks ago.

Now that you know what brought me here, it’s time to tell you just a tiny bit more about me. I’m 25 years young, a travel-obsessed, tattoo-collecting gal. Sushi is my favorite food and one of the things on my bucket list is to travel to Japan and eat some delicious sushi at a “fisher’s market”. While working at my last job, I decided to enroll in school full-time as well and I’ve been loving every second ever since. A lot of people might think that economics and business administration are super boring, dry majors to choose for their education, but I’m differently wired and love it. Which does not mean that you will not find some random rants on this blog about school being stressful and a hassle while working full-time either. Now on to the tricky part: I am an Italian citizen, however, I was born and raised in Germany. In 2011 I got married on a whim in Vegas and lived in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. My marriage did not last very long, which brought me back to my stomping grounds, Mainz (Germany), and I have been living here since 2012. I miss California and the United States in general. I loved the way of life across the big pond and at some point in the future I can totally see myself living there again. Bookworm could be my middle name – I adore books. If there’s a dystopian novel at a random bookstore it will be mine. Here’s your chance to judge: I love books and I also own a Kindle. But, but… in my defense, have you ever finished a book on a Saturday night while being all curled up on your couch without any means of running to the next bookstore or ordering a book off of Amazon to read IMMEDIATELY? Well, yeah, that is the main reason why I own a Kindle – and I love it. Also, some might say that my Makeup collection is ridiculous and endless – that is just complete and utter horsecrap. Whose Makeup collection is ever endless? There’s no such thing, hence why I need to keep collecting beautiful packaging, colorful eyeshadows, and amazing lipsticks. Let’s not argue about this.

The point of this post is not to tell you everything you need to know, otherwise you’ll have no reason to come back to this blog to read more.

I hope you smirked, smiled or laughed a little. After what I have been through this year this blog is not only supposed to be self-therapeutic, but also a generator of everyday-happiness for others. And maybe, maybe there are individuals out there who think, like, fear or want the same things I do. This is also for you! Enjoy!

  1. We are a lot alike. First of all Sam is an awesome name 😉 I love to read as well. I rather have a good old book in my hands to curl up with but have run into the problem of having nothing to read next available to me. Make up is the end all be all most amazing thing ever! I’ve never been to Germany but my grandfather is German. Italy is my dream place to visit/live! Sorry about the job and the marriage but there are better things in store for you. I can’t wait to read more and see them happen for you.

    • Ohhh, I’m so stoked to meet like-minded people all over the globe. First of all, you’re right, Sam is the most awesomest-raddest name ever! Hi Name-Tiwn! Second, you should visit Germany and Italy at some point in your life, it is truly worth it. Don’t be sorry about the marriage and job thing, good things end so that better things can fall into place. And now, I will swing by your blog, because you sound amazing already! 🙂

  2. What an interesting past. I’m excited to read more/learn more about you! Also, if there’s any help you can give me in the makeup area, I’d appreciate it. I’m terrible with that stuff!
